As June 2019 rolled around, the VR headset was released. You could purchase select items or simply let the Benjamins fly, purchasing the complete bundle for $999.00 USD. You might be as surprised as I was to find that the bundles had completely sold through their initial run. Today, Valve announced that its upscale entry into VR is now back in stock.

Get the VR to the US… ASAP!

In a statement that was sent out to media outlets, Valve acknowledged that its stock of VR bundles is now in stock. The note goes on to read, “Initial quantities were outpaced by demand so, as a result, users were asked to reserve their hardware as new kits were in production.”

Sending bundles of love

If you’ve reserved your headset and your initial order didn’t get fulfilled, you might be wondering exactly where your bundle is at. In terms of unfulfilled orders, Valve had this to say, “Starting today, immediate orders are available for customers in the US and a similar announcement will be forthcoming for other US SKUs as well as those in other international territories. All prior reservations will be honored.”

This is somewhat comforting to those who were part of the earlier adopter crowd who headed to the website to secure their place in line. However, it is surprising that it took the company less than a month to ramp up production to not only fill empty preorders but to also fulfill any upcoming orders that may come from this announcement.

The Valve Index complete bundle that includes the upgraded headset, controllers, and base station is now available to order via Steam. There are a few additional items included in the $999.00 package. This is most likely the best quality in VR at this time, and also the price point you’re going to have to get past in order to experience it. That is — if your PC is ready.

If you are unsure if your rig can handle VR, you can view the requirements (see below) or test your PC via Steam.

MINIMUM:

OS: Windows 10

Processor: Dual Core with Hyper-Threading

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, AMD RX480

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Additional Notes: Available DisplayPort (Version 1.2) and USB (2.0+) Port Required

RECOMMENDED:

Processor: Quad Core +

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or better

Additional Notes: Available USB (3.0+) Port Required for Headset Pass-Through Camera & USB Port Support

The Valve Index was announced earlier this year, advancing the design and quality of Valve’s virtual reality efforts.
