Root Letter series shipments and digital sales top 500,000

Total worldwide shipments and digital sales for the mystery visual novel series Root Letter have surpassed 500,000 units, publisher Kadokawa Games announced.

Root Letter first launched for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita on June 16, 2016 in Japan, followed by October 28, 2016 in Europe and November 10, 2016 in North America. A PC version was released on March 31, 2017 in Japan and July 7, 2017 worldwide. iOS and Android versions followed on August 25, 2017 in Japan.

A remake, Root Letter: Last Answer, launched for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PS Vita on December 20, 2018 in Japan, and for PlayStation 4 and Switch on August 30, 2019 in Europe and September 3, 2019 in North America.

A spiritual successor, Root Film, launched for PlayStation 4 and Switch on July 30, 2020 in Japan and March 19, 2021 worldwide. This title is not mentioned anywhere in today’s press release, so it is likely not included in the total sales count for the Root Letter series.

A Root Letter Hollywood movie was announced to be in development in November 2018.
